Cloud computing is becoming increasingly popular, and Microsoft is one of the leading service providers with its Azure platform. As a result, mastery of this Cloud platform is highly sought-after in the enterprise. To enable professionals to demonstrate their expertise, Microsoft offers a range of certifying exams. One of the most recent is the AZ-500 exam, leading to certification as a security engineer.

What is the AZ-500 exam?

Microsoft certifications are now based on the different roles and professions associated with Azure. For example, the AZ-500 exam leads to Azure Security Engineer Associate certification.

The test covers four distinct areas of knowledge. Candidates must prove their skills in security control, identity and access management, and security structure maintenance.

In general, candidates need to learn about measures to protect information, organizations and applications.

They must be able to recognize and resolve vulnerabilities using a variety of tools. The exam also tests the ability to react to different security incidents and to set up protection against the threat.

Who should take the AZ-500 exam?

As its name suggests, this certification focuses on security. As an Associate-level certification, the exam covers a wide range of security topics and technologies.

It is an ideal certification for security engineers. It demonstrates that a professional is capable of ensuring the security and protection of an Azure environment using an assortment of tools, and reacting in the event of an incident or attack.

Typically, an Azure security engineer works as part of a larger team dedicated to the administration and security of Cloud or hybrid environments.

Earning the AZ-500 certification is a great way to start a career in technology and security. This certification is highly sought-after for cybersecurity positions.

How does the AZ-500 exam work?

The AZ-500 exam costs 165 euros per attempt. However, students can take advantage of a reduced rate.

Note that this exam is the only test required to obtain Azure Security Engineer Associate certification. However, the Cloud is evolving rapidly, and Microsoft regularly updates its certifications and related exams.

To pass the exam, you’ll need to achieve a score of over 700. If you fail, you can retake the exam after 24 hours, provided you pay the fee again.

If you fail for the second time, however, you must wait 14 days before trying again. No more than five attempts per year are permitted.

What are the prerequisites for the AZ-500?

There are no mandatory prerequisites for taking the AZ-500 exam. However, it is necessary to have sufficient experience and skills to pass this test.

Before tackling the AZ-500, it’s a good idea to take the AZ-900 exam for Azure Fundamentals certification. This will familiarize you with the various tools and technologies covered by AZ-500.
