As a Power BI data analyst, you’ll collaborate with the key parts of your business. You’ll identify their needs, then cleanse and transform data, in order to design data models with Power BI.

By obtaining Microsoft PL-300 certification, you will become a data analyst. As such, you’ll be able to maximize the value of that data with Power BI, Microsoft’s data analysis solution. Data analysts are technical experts.

They are responsible for designing and creating scalable data models, cleansing and transforming this data. Their expertise also enables them to analyze this data and add significant value to their business, explaining their analysis through data visualization.

What does the PL-300 official exam include?

The Microsoft PL-300 exam will validate four main skills that will enable you to obtain Power BI Analyst Associate certification.

1- Preparing data: The first part of the PL300 exam (15-20% of total content) will validate your ability to obtain data from different sources, set it up and connect it to different data streams. You will also confirm your knowledge of data cleansing, transformation and loading.

These steps are essential to the success of a quality analysis.

2- Modeling data : The second part of the PL300 exam (30-35% of total content) will validate your ability to design a data model and develop it.

You will also demonstrate your ability to create calculation models using DAX, a programming language widely used in Microsoft Power BI.

Finally, you’ll demonstrate that you know how to optimize the performance of the model you’ve created, by removing unnecessary elements from your models and those that are least efficient.

3- Visualizing and analyzing data: The third part of the PL300 exam (25-30%) will confirm your expertise in creating reports and dashboards that give a visual aspect to the data you have analyzed. You will also demonstrate that you are capable of developing these reports to facilitate their use by other collaborators and to serve as a basis for storytelling. Finally, you will demonstrate your ability to use Microsoft Power BI to identify patterns and trends across data.

4- Deploy and maintain assets: In the fourth part of the PL-300 exam (20-25%) you will validate your ability to maintain your files and databases for maximum efficiency.

You will also demonstrate your ability to organize workspaces to enable optimized and secure access for your company’s various collaborators.
